Andrea Carcassi
Andrea Carcassi is an Italian basso brillante rapidly making his mark on the international opera scene, acclaimed for his dramatic yet refined voice. In 2024, he captivated audiences with over 80 performances as Timur in Puccini’s Turandot, conducted by Maestro Sieva Borzak and staged by Andrea Bernard, appearing on some of Italy’s most prestigious stages — from the Sferisterio in Macerata to the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Teatro Sociale di Como, and the Teatro Grande di Brescia. He has debuted major roles such as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Nourabad in Les Pêcheurs de Perles (Opera of Craiova and a German tour), where the German press praised him for his “dramatic and refined bass.” His repertoire ranges from Puccini to Verdi, from Mozart to Donizetti, with iconic roles including Colline in La Bohème (Seoul), Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte (Mai-Festspiele Wiesbaden), Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Commendatore and Masetto in Don Giovanni, as well as Zuniga in Carmen and Ferrando in Il Trovatore.

With a strong international profile, Andrea Carcassi has performed across four continents, appearing with Opera Australia, Melbourne Opera, Lyric Opera of Melbourne, Victorian Opera, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He has also sung in Cairo (debuting in La Traviata), in Gozo–Malta (Il Trittico), and at the Palais de l’Europe in Strasbourg, where he represented Italy before the European consular corps. A versatile artist, Carcassi extends his artistry beyond the traditional repertoire: he created the role of Dexter Fox in the contemporary opera The Children’s Bach by Andrea Schultz (Melbourne, 2008), and he is equally active in the sacred repertoire, performing works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle. Among the roles studied and ready for debut are Ramfis and the King in Aida, as well as Sparafucile in Rigoletto. In August 2025, he will embrace an exciting new challenge: his debut in the title role of Don Pasquale at the Avignano Festival in Basilicata — a milestone marking a significant artistic turning point in his career.

His training was further enriched through masterclasses with leading figures of the international opera scene, including Rockwell Blake, Nicola Martinucci, Renato Bruson, and once again, Ines Salazar. Since 2014, he has pursued an intense artistic career, alternating between opera and concert performances, with over 250 appearances with I Tre Tenori in Italy and abroad, as well as numerous solo recitals warmly received across Europe and North America. He has also appeared in symphonic concerts conducted by Ennio Morricone and in the traditional Vatican Christmas Concerts held in the presence of the Holy Father.
